On Alberta Primetime tonight

Here are tonight’s scheduled topics for Alberta Primetime’s weekly crime panel with criminologist Bill Pitt from Grant MacEwan University, Calgary defence lawyer David Andrews, and me:

  • Last week’s deportation of Calgary gangster Jackie Tran, and the six-year legal battle to make it happen.
  • The societal costs of fetal alcohol syndrome. A Manitoba doctor wrote a column in the Winnipeg Free Press this week advocating forced sterilization of women who repeatedly drink to excess during pregnancy.
  • A convicted Red Deer murderer granted a new trial because of his own inept attempt to represent himself in court.

(Alberta Primetime airs live at 7 p.m. MST on Access TV: Channel 13 in Calgary; Channel 351 on Bell TV; Channel 267 on Shaw Direct/Star Choice. You can visit the show’s segment archive to view past discussions about crime and other topics.)

There was a good article in the barrhead leader this week about some information that was never brought to light in the inquiry in defence of hennessy & cheesman in the public inquiry . It might be worth your time to check it out. Thanks, Dwayne
