A third suspect is in custody in connection with the New Year’s gang shooting that killed three people.
This time the suspect, a 22-year-old Calgarian named Nathan Zuccherato, turned himself into police. Herald photographer Ted Rhodes and I were there when Zuccherato arrived at police headquarters with his lawyer. We broke the story online and have exclusive pictures.
Nathan’s father, Len, spoke with me this morning and said he believes his son is innocent and made a conscious choice to turn himself in — rather than wait to be arrested — as a way of facing the allegations head-on.
The police investigation is continuing, and it’s only the very beginning of a long legal process for Zuccherato and the two other suspects, Michael Joseph Roberto, 25, and Real Christain Honorio, 25.
It will be some time before we know the truth about what happened on New Year’s Day.
